Anchor Recovery (Thames)

Return_for_Anchor.JPGThe evening of Wednesday 18th August was very wet. We were recovering an anchor and a grapple from the Thames. The dive team for recovery was Keith Lewis, my backup safety diver and me, the recovery diver. The surface team was Keith Dick and Jo Dick. Guess what, the surface team got wetter than the dive team.

On my way to the anchor I came across a rope and followed it to discover the grapple. It was caught between two large flagstones and had turned with one prong under the stone. I released it and recovered it to the surface. I was aware of the stones on the bottom because I had positioned the entry ladder. So the first dive was done without fins.

New Logo for BSAC
BSAC LogoA while ago BSAC got in touch to seek members' views on how the BSAC brand can be  developed. The aim of the consultation was to ensure that the BSAC brand continued to reflect the values of today's Club and its members.

Many thanks to everyone who participated in the consultation, particularly the online surveys which proved highly effective.

Feedback from these surveys clearly highlighted that while Neptune was liked, it was felt that he was looking a little old-fashioned. It was also agreed that the logo as a whole needed modernising and a new, organisation-wide strapline should be introduced.

As a result of the consultation, the BSAC logo has now been redesigned, with a new typeface and featuring a smaller Neptune along with the introduction of one single strapline - Diving for divers.

As a not-for-profit organisation, we are committed to making the implementation of the updated BSAC brand as smooth and cost-effective as possible while maintaining quality and impact.
